Classroom Beliefs
I believe that learning should be fun and engaging for both students and teachers! Students should feel safe developing their academic, social, and emotional skills in an environment that is culturally responsive to their strengths and needs.
Classroom Routines
Morning Meeting — Everyone in the classroom gathers in a circle for twenty to thirty minutes at the beginning of each school day and proceeds through four sequential components: greeting, sharing, group activity, and morning message.
Establishing Rules — Teacher and students work together to name individual goals for the year and establish rules that will help everyone reach those goals.
Energizers — Short, playful, whole-group activities that are used as breaks in lessons.
Quiet Time — A brief, purposeful, and relaxed time of transition that takes place after lunch and recess, before the rest of the school day continues. Students may participate in mindfulness activities and/or listen to a story.
Closing Circle — A five to ten minute gathering at the end of the day that promotes reflection and celebration through participation in a brief activity or two.
Snacks/Lunch
Please send two, separately-packaged, healthy snacks every day.
Please do not send snacks in the lunchbox. Lunch boxes will remain in lockers until lunch-time, while snacks are brought into the classroom in the morning. When snacks are incorporated into the lunchbox, students are often unable to distinguish between the two.
Please help your child understand if he/she will have school or home lunch.

Classroom Supplies/Donations
Our classroom community emphasizes collaboration. Part of this practice includes use of shared school supplies. Through the use of our PTO budget, I will provide the majority of supplies for students to use in the classroom throughout the school day this year.
However, if you wish, the following items are always needed in the classroom:
Clorox Wipes
Individually Packaged Healthy Snacks (for extra snack supply)
Pre-sharpened Ticonderoga pencils
Big Pink Erasers (Not for pencil top)
24 Pack of Crayola Crayons
In addition, your child will need the following supplies each day at school:
Gym shoes (to be kept at school)
Wired Headphones (to be kept at school - straight jack works best)
Extra set of clothing (to be kept at school)
Water Bottle
Field Trips
All classroom volunteers/field trip chaperones MUST fill out a volunteer form through TCAPS.
How to Support At Home

Parent Communication
Each Friday, you will receive a digital newsletter containing a description of our weekly learning goals, school events, important parent reminders, and ways to extend learning at home.
Email is the best way to contact me throughout the day. Please allow 24 hours for a response, as I am not always able to respond during the school day.

Take Home Folders
Students will have a Take Home Folder that will come home daily. This folder will include notes from school and any work that is completed during the school day. Take Home Folders go back and forth between home and school every day. This is one opportunity for students to show you what they have worked on at school and highlight their successes. Please help your child build a routine to ensure their folder gets emptied each night and returned to school each morning.
Classroom Celebrations
● We love celebrating birthdays! Please feel free to send in a treat or small
toy for your child to share with the class on his/her birthday or half-birthday
(in the case of Summer birthdays).
● Please notify me if you plan to send in a treat
● Birthday invites will need to be arranged by you personally; we will not
pass them out in class.
A Sign-Up Genius will be emailed out a few weeks before each
classroom celebration (Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day).
